How to Build a Winning Team

How to Build a Winning Team by Jack and Suzy Welch

This is a well written piece on how to manufacture a successful team. I came across this article last week while reading it in the Newsweek. This article provides a fantastic perspective about not just winning in your professional career but at home. Keeping a balance between the two can be difficult.  New undergrads are rarely exposed to team work during that mandatory  BUS 1000 course in college . While many corporate leaders just don't know how to make a winning team. This article will help you understand the qualities needed to be the best team out there. The link below leads to the full article.

Afghanistan Withdrawal

Posted below is a video clip from the Charlie Rose Show that aired on [6/22/2011]. The commentators are Richard Haass of the Council on Foreign Relations and David Ignatius of the Washington Post who discuss President Obama's decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. It's worth watching because it answers many questions that weren't addressed by President Obama in his most recent speech on withdrawing troops from Afghanistan. This clip highlights the projected consequences of the American draw down including how will it impact both Americans and the people of South Asia. Will the American economy benefit from cuts in War spending? Watch and see. Enjoy.

U.S. drone strikes

Some would argue that U.S. drone strikes are counter productive and helping terrorist recruit disfranchised victims of collateral attack by the unmanned drones. The drone strikes are violating States airspace and sovereignty. Others would argue that drone strikes have been successful in striking high terrorist targets and locating them. What is your take ? Please take a few seconds to complete the poll on this blog.

Osama Bin Laden is gone, but questions remain

Earlier this week , President Obama had the honor of announcing American’s most wanted fugitive Osama Bin Laden dead. However questions remain as to the precedent of his death. Why did it take the US government such a long time to find OBL? Is this a lapse in American intelligence or was the timing of Osama’s death a political public relation event to boost President Obama’s approval rating.
Why wasn’t the Pakistan government aware about OBLs where about? After receiving millions of dollars in foreign aid, Pakistan should of least be able to hint clues leading to OBL’s location. Even more mysterious was OBLs proximity to a Pakistan Military base in Abbottabad.
Many today question why wasn’t Osama’s body returned to his family members ? When will the US share OBL’sDNA sample obtained from his corpse and show it as proof to confirm OBL’s death. These questions will remain until concrete answers are found.
The long-term consequence of OBL’s death doesn’t help much on the war on terror. Yes the leadership is gone but Al-Qaeda has become a domestic franchise terrorist group that can be found throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The War on terror will continue but the US can say atleast say OBL’s lost will be a vital blow to the Al-Qaeda’s terrorist movement.

Introduction

Hi , Everybody

For a while back , maybe a couple of years back I had the idea of starting a blog. What is this blog going to be based on ? I do not exactly know and I wouldn't want to narrow it to a single theme. However my expertise is in International Affairs (IA) . I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Baruch College (CUNY). I also welcome others to share their ideas in this field. As with most of us who have knowledge in IA know many topics are related each other.
If you would like to post any job or internship opportunities feel free. I'm also interested in political jokes. Now a days rarely do we see any political art or cartoons in media publications. If you see an grammar errors don't be shy to point them out. So let the journey begin.
